When blue turns to yellow (The birth of modern comix)

Thanks to the Ilovecomix directory (link) everybody can have a look at the greatness of early comics. Actually the trained eye can spot the birth of modern comics in this directory in yellowkid. The by most authors accepted beginning of comics starts with the yellowkid folder. However in the beginning, around 1895 because they still couldn't print yellow, this yellow kid was blue. Look for the blue yellow kid! And enjoy the craftsmanship of Richard Felton Outcault (and what a name it is). Even the greatness of the comicgenius of alltime Winsor McCay must be seen in the context of many very talented predessessors en contemporaries like Outcault. Those were actually 19th century comics. It was probably with Bud Fischer and George McManus that the real 20th century comics started.

Just follow the pictures and timeline below and look for the blue kid who turns to yellow.

In this picture above dated july 7, 1895 his shirt is yellow but he still has a brother that looks quite similar wearing a blue shirt. The yellowkid on the balcony is already
accompanied by the typical comentary note that later was written on his shirt.

In this picture above dated september 22, 1895, we only can see the blue kid besides the Kup Kommittee, probably his brother. He his not very interested in what's going on.

In this picture dated november 10, 1895, we only can find his blue brother in front of the boy priest.

Now we see him standing on the car, novermber 17, 1895

Wait! Now we can see him clearly, still a nice innocent kid (dated november 24, 1895 hard and sad times and what a sad story to put in a newspaper!).

And where is he now? Is it the kid with the green cap?

On december 25, 1895 everybody has lost it's color and violence was fun in those days!
